State Science Awards for 2024

We are proud and happy to announce that the Committee for the Award of State Science Awards, at its session held on April 16, 2026, adopted the Decision on the Award of State Science Awards for 2024, which awards the Annual Award for the Popularization and Promotion of Science in the Field of Humanities to our employees Dr. sc. Josip Mihaljević and Dr. sc. Gordan Ravančić for hosting the radio show Historical Controversies on the Third Channel of Croatian Radio.

From the Explanation of the Decision:

“The radio show, in conversation with prominent researchers, presents new insights, methodologies and controversial topics from Croatian and world history to the public. During 2024 (the show has been running continuously since 2016), controversial topics were presented: the causes and course of the Homeland War, human, material and demographic losses, the causes of the establishment and malicious interpretation of the role of HR Herceg-Bosna, the withdrawal of certain history textbooks from use in the Republic of Croatia, as well as other less represented and insufficiently known historical issues.”
