ZAGREB, January 23, 2012 – The proceedings of the international scientific conference “Hum and Herzegovina through History”, which was held in Mostar in 2009, were presented today at the Croatian Institute of History in Zagreb.
The proceedings were discussed by professor at the Faculty of Philosophy in Zagreb Nino Raspudić, reviewer Mirjana Matijević Sokol, and editor Ivica Lučić.
Raspudić noted that the collection shows what the Hum region was like in the past and what Herzegovina is like today. The international conference in Mostar was attended by 60 scientists from Croatia, Bosnia and Herzegovina and surrounding countries, he said, adding that the two volumes of the collection include 46 author contributions on 1,600 pages.
He assessed that the works were interdisciplinary in nature and added that, in addition to historians, the conference also included art historians, archaeologists, and philologists.
Matijević Sokol pointed out that 28 contributions were published in the first volume on 866 pages and added that the introductory texts were written by Ivica Lučić and Nino Raspudić.
She recalled that the first volume, among others, published works by Anđelko Mijatović, Marinko Tomasović, Fra Hrvatin Gabrijelo Jurišić and Robert Jolić, and added that the second volume also included works by Domagoj Vidović, Ivica Šarac and Tomislav Jonjić.
She noted that the collection concluded with final words by Ivica Lučić and assessed that it was a comprehensive work on Hum and Herzegovina, which lays the foundations for future research.
