Jure Kristo
Krišto, Jure, Croatian historian (Stipanići near Tomislavgrad, Bosnia and Herzegovina, 29 March 1943). Doctorate in theology in 1979 at the University of Notre Dame in the USA. Since 1991 employed at the Croatian Institute of History. In 1993 he received his doctorate at the Faculty of Philosophy in Zagreb with the topic The Catholic Church in Croatian Politics 1850–1918 (published under the title The Silenced History, 1994). From 1992 to 2000 editor of the Journal of Contemporary History . He mainly deals with recent Croatian history, the political position and role of the Catholic Church.
