The Library of the Croatian Institute of History<\/strong> was founded in 1962. <\/p>

The library’s holdings cover the field of social sciences and humanities, with a special emphasis on recent history. Since the library was founded as the library of the then Institute for the History of the Croatian Workers’ Movement, part of the holdings is closely related to that period. <\/p>

Today, the library has about 80,000 volumes. The collection includes a book department and a magazine department. The library exchanges magazines published by the Institute (Journal of Contemporary History, Historical Contributions, Review of Croatian History) with similar institutions in the country and abroad. <\/p>

A significant part of the collection also includes the legacies of prominent scientists\/historians Dr. Jere Jareb and Dr. Bo\u017eidar Ivanu\u0161, as well as the legacy of the collection of books and magazines of deceased Institute employees Dr. Ivan Jeli\u0107 and Dr. Fikreta Buti\u0107-Jeli\u0107. A special treasure of the collection are numerous, now rare, brochures. <\/p>

The library is a closed type and the collection is primarily intended for the Institute’s scientists. However, we are happy to accommodate other scientific staff when they ask us for a service. <\/p>

Library hours are from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.<\/p>
