AND<\/span><\/span>The Institute’s Branch for the History of Slavonia, Srijem and Baranja is the only scientific institution in the Republic of Croatia that is qualified and systematically engaged in research into this historically complete and relatively marginalized part of Croatia in historiography. Since its establishment in 1996, the Branch has systematically conducted research covering the history of the Croatian people, society, economic relations and culture, with an emphasis on the intertwining of the history of Slavonia, Srijem and Baranja and the peoples of Central and Southeastern Europe with whom we shared history from the Middle Ages to the end of the 20th century. In addition to scientific research activities, the Branch has also recorded notable results in publishing activities and its success proves the justification for establishing regional centers for historical research in Croatia as a country that is not only geographically but also historically heterogeneous and polycentric. <\/span> <\/span><\/p>

The employees of the Branch participate in the work of various projects implemented at the Institute, and the branch itself is implementing the project S(c)lavnoni(j)a: name, scope and border position in the Middle and Early Modern Ages, which is co-financed by the Croatian Science Foundation (until March 2025). The Branch also implements the international project Regional Translocality in Historical Perspective: the Case of Slavonia and Bosnia, which is implemented in cooperation with the Ruhr Universities of Bochum and Leipzig, and is financed by the Humboldt Foundation, a bilateral scientific and research project co-financed as part of the joint Croatian-Hungarian cooperation Church and secular elite between the 15th and 19th centuries. An example of Croatian and Hungarian elites and their relations with the royal court, and the institutional project Sources for the history of eastern Croatia (IPIH), which is financed through the Program Agreement through the funds of the NextGenerationEU fund. <\/span> <\/span><\/p>

The work of the branch is partly financed by local government funds (City of Slavonski Brod and Brod-Posavina County). The branch has a strong publishing activity, which includes the magazine Scrinia Slavonica, and its own <\/span>web pages<\/span><\/a> where you can get more information about the activities of the Branch.<\/span> <\/span><\/p>
